Robin has been a journalist and broadcaster for 38 years, progressing from regional newspapers as a news reporter, sub editor and sports editor to local and national radio and then TV. He has been broadcasting since 1987 and worked as a staff producer and broadcaster at BBC Sport from 1990 to 2001.
Following a spell as a Football Reporter with ITV Sport, Robin went freelance and set up Capricorn Media, which now specialises in Media, Communications and Presentation Training.
In his career, interviewing others, seeing people interviewed in the same studio and being interviewed himself, Robin understands the minds of journalists and broadcasters and how to tailor a message for an audience and his training is relevant for all managers and people leaders in all fields of business and sport.
He has created media training workshops for business, specifically for CEOs and MDs who want to be able to deal with the media and make the most of their on-air opportunity. He’s also worked with councils and charities and delivered workshops for a business people pitching their ideas to investment dragons.
Robin’s work for his company Capricorn Media includes being an event host and MC, he’s a voice-over artist and he still reports for radio on Wimbledon tennis each year while writing and broadcasting daily highlights from the Open Championship golf.
In the past three years, Robin has turned his attention to university lecturing at UCFB Wembley, based at the national stadium. He teaches on the Sports Broadcasting and Multimedia Journalism courses, helping students make that next step into full time employment through his contacts in the industry.
